Las Manos que Cosen (The Hands That Sew) is a digital memory-recovery project that pays tribute to the workers of the Balenciaga fashion houses in Spain and France. Blending art direction, visual storytelling, UI/UX design, and web development, it creates a minimalist interactive archive—inspired by the aesthetic of historical documents yet with a contemporary approach.
The project features a documentary archive profiling those who shaped Balenciaga’s legacy, alongside films shot in Donostia, Toulouse, Paris, and Getaria, capturing testimonies from former seamstresses and employees. It also includes a participation form to expand the database with new stories.
With elegant design, intuitive navigation, and immersive audiovisual elements, the project bridges emotion and documentation, honoring the human legacy behind haute couture.
